SupplyOn AG meets the BS 7799 international safety standard
recommended by the VDA

With regard to information protection and IT security, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (Verband der Automobilindustrie, VDA) recommends its members to adhere to the British Standard (BS) 7799, a widely acknowledged international standard. SupplyOn AG, the provider of Internet services to the automotive industry, currently ranks as the only automotive platform worldwide that is certified to this standard, and therefore meets the highest safety requirements.

Information protection in the automotive industry
The increasingly integrated and networked cooperation between automobile manufacturers, their system developers and supplier firms results in a constant exchange of highly sensitive data, both on national and international levels. In response to this situation the VDA established the work group “Integral information protection with IT safety, prototype protection and risk management“ in order to define a generally acknowledged framework of information protection requirements for the German automotive industry. The work group participants from the corporations Audi, BMW, Bosch, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, Leoni, Magna Steyr, Opel, VW and ZF agree that the international safety standard BS 7799 meets the needs of the automotive industry in an appropriate and expedient manner.

Comprehensive quality thanks to operating and safety concept
The unrestricted awarding of the certificate by DQS GmbH in 2003 confirmed the implementation of a comprehensive management system for information security and the adherence to top safety standards in all corporate areas at SupplyOn. The operating and safety concept considers all essential aspects of corporate, IT and data safety, as well as general legislative conditions. The qualification according to BS 7799 ensures the adherence to defined processes, as well as the optimal integration of altered general legislative, technical or economic conditions into the processes at SupplyOn. Internal audits take place twice a year, while the external monitoring audit is repeated every year.

Safety and security as key factors
Certified safety is a topic that has developed into a key factor for business relations in data intensive branches and industry sectors. “Reliable and highly secure business processes are of fundamental significance for our customers,“ explains Christian Stemmer, Chief Security Officer at SupplyOn AG. “SupplyOn is a partner that meets the most stringent safety standards in development, hosting as well as in its operations.“
