SupplyOn rounds off EDI offerings:
WebEDI and EDI from a single source

Since the beginning of this year, SupplyOn has also been providing an extensive service for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), in addition to its WebEDI solution. With only a single, one-time infrastructure link, supply chain management and financial processes can be handled as Internet-based transactions, as well as via direct integration. This results in a considerable reduction of efforts in setting up and monitoring the exchange of structured messages and information between a corporation and its suppliers.

The benefits of multiplication
In many cases, medium-sized enterprises do not have the resources to also maintain their own EDI communication with their suppliers, in addition to the electronic data exchange with their customers. Via the SupplyOn collaboration platform, the purchasing company can provide its suppliers with uniform data sets – regardless of whether the given supplier has an EDI or a WebEDI system in place or not. Only a single link is necessary for WebEDI as well as for EDI, and consequently there is no need for a separate backend integration at the purchasing company. Suppliers receive a single, one-time format description for the orders to be placed by the customer and subsequently implement this information in the in-house IT system as a mapping. With every additional customer that wishes to communicate with the company via EDI, suppliers benefit from a multiplication effect: without having to once again enter customer specific format descriptions into the in-house system, suppliers can exchange data with their customer.

As Johannes Keller, Director Product Management SCM at SupplyOn, explains: “Companies with less resources to commit to the EDI area will benefit from a complete solution by SupplyOn: In this way, the complete supplier communication can be covered via SupplyOn, regardless of the size and existing infrastructures of the business partners involved.“
