SupplyOn AG, a leading provider of supply chain collaboration solutions for the manufacturing industry, acquired NEWTRON AG from Liechtensteinische Post AG effective January 1, 2017. NEWTRON's procurement solution, which focuses in particular on non-production material and catalog products, will complement SupplyOn’s solution portfolio, which concentrates on production material. Moreover, this step will allow SupplyOn to tap new market segments outside the manufacturing industry and expand its global supplier network.

Markus Quicken, CEO of SupplyOn AG, commented on the strategic decision to buy newtron: “By acquiring NEWTRON AG, SupplyOn has strengthened its position as a service provider for the entire range of procurement. SupplyOn has its roots in the procurement of production material. This is a strategically important area of procurement for manufacturing companies with unique requirements not covered by many e-procurement solutions. With the acquisition of NEWTRON, we can now provide our customers and the market with a standardized system to uniformly procure all commodities. This is a future-oriented step that will greatly benefit our customers.”

Michael Bibow, the CEO of NEWTRON AG, added: “We welcome SupplyOn as our new shareholder. This will provide us with the financial stability and investment security we need to remain on our growth trajectory. As a result, we will continue to be an attractive and reliable business partner for our customers. Our customers will also benefit from SupplyOn's global presence when expanding their global procurement activities.”

The fusion of both organizations’ know-how and solutions will have numerous advantages for the customers of both companies. SupplyOn customers will profit in particular with regard to indirect procurement from NEWTRON’s know-how in catalog and e-procurement solutions. In return, NEWTRON customers can now take advantage of a global supply-chain collaboration platform that professionalizes global working relationships with suppliers, and thus tap into the most important procurement markets in Asia, North America and South America.

The NEWTRON brand and the solutions offered under this brand name will be retained. Both NEWTRON locations in Hamburg and Dresden with about 45 employees will be kept as well.

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
